Interesting TV Editing Choices...

I have seen this movie many times on broadcast television (AMC, ABC Family) and after the confrontation in the diner when Clifford dumps milk shakes, etc. on Moody and his buds and they chase Cliff across the street and he introduces Linderman as "My Bodyguard" the next bit where Carson sticks up his middle finger in Moody's face (one of the greatest parts of the film) is cut out! Yet the lockerroom scene where the bare butt boy walks right next to Matt Dillon is left intact! Interestng how the gesture of a middle finger would be considered less offensive by TV censors than showing the bare behind of a seemingly underage teen boy! Perhaps that extra who performed the nude scene was 18 but, considering the age of the rest of the cast I'm not so sure! I noticed that nobody else has commented on this fact and it has always bothered me. Any thoughts?

I noticed that too! I sa the movie about 100 times before ever noticing the bare butt, so maybe no one has noticed in in the censorship world...

I'm talking about when the movie is shown on broadcast television.

You should own a copy on DVD. It's dirt cheap. It would make a good stocking stuffer and you'll never have to suffer through the editing again.

A naked kids ass is not an offensive gesture, at least not in the context of the locker room scene.

But a middle finger is considered an offense gesture, in that context.

Censorship is great.

Not really.

I saw "My Bodyguard" in a movie theater when I was 12 y/o with my parents and I was squirming in my seat during the locker room scene. However, the middle finger scene caused thunderous applause from the audience.

I guess diffenent people find different things offensive.

Censorship of any kind is wrong!

I remember watching this on one of my local stations, I think it might even have been on a local PBS Station and the scene in the locker room where the bare assed boy walks by Matt Dillion's character was left intact.
As I stated earlier, I don't remember much about the film, but I've never forgot that scene, that boy has a GREAT ass.
I remeber watching this on vhs several years ago and I rewound the tape several times just so I could look at that kids ass.
