The Music
Does anyone know what the music is in the movie? I just bought a copy from Amazon.com and the movie is still as good as it was back then.

shareDave Grusin wrote the music, but I have searched and searched to find if it is available and so far no luck...
shareI've loved the music in this for a LONG time but all I know is that Dave Grusin wrote it. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be a big part of his catalog as I've never heard him mention it in any interviews nor have I ever seen it included on any of his cds. It's some of the most perfect movie music I've ever heard. It just sets the mood of the movie so perfectly- that innocence of being a kid in late 70s Chicago...Grusin nailed it.
Riding my bike along Lake Michigan while whistling the main theme to myself.....ahhhhh, life is good!
I think a write in campaign to Mr. Grusin might be in order to see if he would release the music...
shareI would back something like that. It's such great music....it's a shame it's not more widely available, not to mention appreciated.
I would love to see a behind the scenes documentary on the making of the soundtrack to My Bodyguard- but something tells me that it's probably just a drop in the bucket to Mr. Grusin.
Agreed, it's one of my absolute favorite all-time movie scores. It's a treat to see that others remember and love it as well. This movie remains one of my favorites even 30 years later.
I'm listening to it now. Youtube, guys.

I totally did that, thanks! I saved everything I could find. Not my perfect solution (where's our soundtrack?) but still totally brilliant... thanks! Loved that. This score is one of my favorites.
I loved Dave Grusin's score, as I love all of his music, but some of his melodies seemed rather out of place, particularly the soothing music in the fight scenes.
shareThe music in this gem is a gem of itself. It so takes me back to when I was a kid and first watched and immediately became a fan of this film. I was about 11 and would watch this on HBO - back when playing the Atari and watching Video Concert Hall was some of my fav stuff to do.
shareThe score of this movie is absolutely wonderful.
Don't sell that cow!
