DVD Commentary

Just wanted to mention that I got maybe 15 minutes into the running commentary and had to turn it off. These guys treated it as though it were an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and frankly I thought it was a better movie than one which would be featured on that show. They had the nerve to make fun of Vincent Price when not only is he a G-d of horror (and films in general) but was IMO the best part of Monster Club. He was very witty and it was cool to see him dance with that obese monster at the end. Just wanted to see if anyone else agreed - I thought the commentary track was in poor taste.

I liked the MST 3000 treatment in the commentary. Monster Club is one of my favorite films (a guilty pleasure I admit) but I thought it was fun to poke fun at it. I enjoy looking at the movies I love with a little sense of humor.

Don't take too much offense at the commentary; the MST3k people all did a mocking commentary of the recent release of the original Night of the Living Dead DVD, which is a cinematic classic. So don't be too offended.

It's kind of funny you mention this because the first time I saw Monster Club it was being hosted by Elvira back in the mid 80's. Talk about poor treatment... Not that I don't like Elvira but I thought this was a better film then that.

I don't mind a jokey commentary, but these guys are not funny....I want to strangle the one with the high-pitched voice.

Yep,I listened to the commentary yesterday and thought I would have to turn it off within a few minutes, if the idiot did not stop that stupid singing. I prefer commentaries that give insight into the making of the movie and the actors. I wonder why these guys were chosen to do the commentary when mostly they bashed it. MST3000 is one thing, bu this was supposed to be an actual commentary for the dvd. Okay, I get it, Raven is a nerd, how many more times do you have to say it? And, you do not bash VP and stay on my good side....

Push the button, Max!

I lost the DVD some time ago, but I do remember not caring for the commentary.

Seems like I remember some of the other extras were pretty good, though.

I agree. Out of the hundreds of DVDs that I have with commentaries, this is probably one of the most useless, pointless, and unfunny one out of 'em.

All of the geeky in-jokes got a bit tiresome after a while, only one or two of them were kind of funny. In the main I felt like giving them a swift kick on the seat of their pants. I would much rather have had a more researched and informative commentary, more about the actors and what went into making the film.
This film didn't deserve the MST treatment, nor did these guys have anything on Joel/Mike and the Bots anyhow.
