A question about the actors

Did anyone else hear about the tidbit that two sets of the brothers in this film were cousins also? My hubby and I seem to remember hearing about this. It was while the movie was being advertised as having actual brothers play the parts of brothers i.e. Keach = James, Carradine = Younger, Quaid = Miller, Guest = Ford, and that just like the Jameses and Youngers being cousins two sets of brothers are cousins also. We both think it was either the Keach & Carradine or Keach and Quaid. Please somebody tell me that we're not imagining this!! Thanks in advance!

Peace!

Your post is old, so perhaps you know this by now... but just in case....

Actually the James and Younger families were not blood relatives. I believe they intermarried with each other, so that their offspring may be related, but at the time there definitely was no blood shared between them.

As for cousins as actors, the answer is also no. Perhaps there has been a twist of facts. David Carradine is NOT a full-blooded brother of Keith and Robert. David has a different mother than they do, so he is (or was, actually) only a half-brother of the other two.

There is a supposed cousin relationship of the Quaids to Gene Autry, but that's as far as that goes.

Nope. The claims you are asking about are simply urban legends.

Thanks. I knew that David is/was just a half-brother to Keith and Robert. And I had heard recently about the Quaids poss. being related to Mr. Autry.

We had heard the rumor about two sets of the brothers poss. being cousins also shortly after the movie came out. This was before my hubby and I had met. But I never could find out if it was hearsay or fact. Thanks for the info, though ^_^

My pleasure. :)

I would not be surprised to hear that rumor started merely as a gimmick to get people in to see the movie. Hollywood is dirty that way sometimes.

In any case, it's a great movie and those who haven't seen it have no idea what they're missing!
