I got into a big discussion over the ending of the movie when the main character wakes up to find out it was all a dream. I liked the ending its prefered over say Return of the Living Dead 2 where they kill all the zombies and everyone lives happy ever after (well until the nuke gets there). So I put up to you guys/girls the fans of the movie give your opinions on the matter.

I'll ditto all that, it pissed my off in "Phantasm" and it pissed me off in this movie too, its like the writers decided to break early for lunch and just say *bleep* you to all the viewers!

I actually loved the ending. It was a premonition (a vision of the future), not a dream. Usually, the 'it was a dream' idea is a crappy way to end it, but the way Lenzi sealed it off was very satisfying.

It didn't end with him saying it was a dream, it was a premonition of what actually occured and the way Lenzi finishes it off is rather professional I thought.

I didnt care for the ending. It felt like there wasn't enough film to reach a certain mark, so they extended the film by reshowing the begining.

The ending is one of the few problems I have with the picture. Had I not seen Invaders From Mars as a child in myriad reruns, back when such an ending was new, unexpected, and cool, then, Nightmare City's ending might have had the same effect on me as IFM's.

shareI thought the ending was satisfactory. A complete triumph over evil has almost long exited the horror film. Despite the awakening from a dream sequence any sense of coziness is quickly expelled from our thoughts. As soon as we see the alien plane door open we know the dream was prescience.
