How this movie should have ended

Pretty much everyone agrees that the ending to Nightmare City is one of the worst possible choices the writers could have made. It worked 30 years earlier when it was relatively new for Invaders For Mars, but it doesn't work if you've already seen that movie.

So, how should this movie have ended? My answer is fairly simply. Take out everything from when Dean wakes up and after. End the movie at the end of the theme park section. It would make a wonderfully nihilistic ending in true "zombie" movie fashion.

And I've always disliked that title. It gives away the ending. It can still be taken figuratively, though, so, without the nightmare ending, it can still be a nightmare in concept.

Nope. I loved the ending - not typical for a zombie film

I didn't much like the ending, as it felt like the lazy cop out thing to do.

Yeah, I like almost everything about this movie. Except for the ending. It was fresh and original when I first saw it for the first time in the original Invaders From Mars. After that, though, it doesn't really make logical sense, does it? :) Even in Invaders From Mars it doesn't. However, I am more forgiving of Invaders because I'd never seen that type of ending before in a movie until I saw Invaders.

Was it a cop out? Even thought it was a dream it still ends the same way.

.......the nightmare is a reality

The zombies were about to get off the plane just like in the dream and it would all happen again.

An early Groundhog Day if you will. Makes you wonder what that guy has done to deserve this.
