I'm watching it now! Started just before midnight.
First time I saw this, I thought for sure there was gonna be a scene where The Fog rolled through the centennial celebration and absolutely slaughtered everyone.
I know the ghosts needed only 6 victims, but I still think it would've been a pretty cool scene. Would've really been some good pirate ghost payoff!
We still get Tom Atkins without a mustache, though. That's creepy enough.
Yes, today is April the 21st, and I remembered that last night around midnight and thought about this movie. I first saw it in the fall of 1982 when it premiered on ABC, then about a year later got it on VHS and watched it often on our VCRs until our move in 1997. Then after I got my apartment and a TV and DVD player in 2010 I brought a dvd of it from a store and have watched it several more times. It has always been one of my favorite movies, and also one of the scariest I've felt, and it has another distinction for me. As this thread says, it takes place on April 21st, which was also my father's birthday. He died in 1981 at 57, but would have been 92 today. He always made a big deal out of his birthday because it came at a very good time for him. He was a tax accountant, who did people's income taxes that became due on April 15, and he had just finished with that, and also really liked to garden, the season of which was just befinning at this time.

I've been meaning to rewatch The Fog... just saw a post about it on another site due to today being 21st April. Guess I know what I'm watching tonight!
