Is there a better theme song?

I mean it fits so perfect with this movie. I'm sure there are better theme said alone theme songs, but i can't think of any that fit as well with a movie as this one does.

"A Kind Of Magic" from "Highlander" is up there too. It matches what the movie is about, and also the eighties/action/fantasy feel of the tale itself. "Flash" does have a particular vibe that fits brilliantly well with the style of its movie, though. Larger than life and fun, and with that great beat.

Staying on the Queen theme, another song that they wrote for "Highlander", "Princes Of The Universe", was used for the TV series spin-off, and it fits that perfectly as well. When you hear it during the credits, with all that blue-white lightning of the Quickening, it sounds perfect.

No.

Queen's various theme songs can only be rivaled by Tangerine Dream's.

God, I love this ridiculously movie.

Go away, or I shall taunt you a second time!

You compare QUEEN to fucking tangerine dream??!!
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮😂😂😂😂😂

Jerry Goldsmith’s score for Legend was light years beyond td’s pathetic, synthetic muzak.

reply

There is not.

And there's surely no better musical score to a laser gun battle ("Battle Theme" Hawkmen attack the Ajax) in all of science fiction.

reply

LOL! Barefoot, I gotta tell you, I loved 'Flash Gordon' for what it was...and to be honest, it's best if you 'hoist a few' before you watch it; One of my family friends was using a gold colored face cream treatment & after she put it on, the first thing she said was in effect, "OMG, I LOOK LIKE KLYTUS!";

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

reply

"Hoisting a few" is one of my favorite past times! Especially during epic guitar riffs augmented with lasers blasts and explosions :) Yes, Flash is a guilty pleasure; but it's a nice, occasional break from real life. You must run with some very informed women. I don't think I know one female who knows what Flash Gordon is, let alone a character from the movie.

reply

AND she's a good deal younger than my wife to boot...so "FLASH-AAAAA-AAAA" must be a cult classic.

reply

Probably not.

reply

I don't understand why there aren't 6 different interpretations/remakes of Flash Gordon like they have for everyone else.

reply

There's more than ten Star Wars films if you want to count them as interpretations...

reply

Only Queen's "Princes of the Universe" for Highlander.

But the problem with Highlander was that they never ever played the theme song when McCleod needed it. Flash Gordon on the other hand got to have his theme song played WHILE he was doing some kick-butt stuff, like riding his flying laser scooter up to Ming's space fortress during an epic phaser battle with winged strong-men battling against a merciless army. It doesn't get anymore epic than that.

reply

I was thinking the same thing.

reply

Superman. Indiana Jones.

reply

Those are not songs.

reply

And, for most sci-fi and fantasy, songs are not appropriate music. Flash Gordon's music stands out as one of the rare instances where songs actually do work. Not a lot to compare it to.
