Maniac Vs. The Exterminator

I brought this up on the Maniac board also. Frank Zito (Maniac) and John Eastland both cruised 1980's NYC at night. It would have been a legendary grindhouse treat if these two had crossed paths. If only James Glickenhaus and Maniac director, William Lustig had connected.

It sounds like a great idea, somebody should try and make it into a film. Maniac Vs The Exterminator. I'd watch it.

Or, they could at least come up with something like it. A soldier comes home from Iraq and decides to clean up his city's streets while a nut-job is whacking people left and right. Our vigilante hero goes after the killer and we have an all-out battle. This kind of action is missing from movies these days.

reply

It would have set the grindhouse circuit on fire back in the day.

How about adding Paul Kersey and Travis Bickle to the ensuing battle...?

reply

This version would probably work best as an unauthorized comic book.

reply

both of these movies were both filmed in 1979//

reply

haha that would have been sick if he went after him

I was trying to figure out what on earth would this poster start a thread about two very different protagonists, and then you linked them by location. You know, both films do show a very decadent New York City and in the same way. Good call!
