It definitely had a theatrical release,i saw it in early 1981 as part of a double feature.Cool movie!
shareBoth Exterminator 1 and 2 played in various theatres over here in Belgium.
shareI saw Exterminator I and II in their initial theatrical runs in the same theater(UA Del Amo- Torrance CA, in the same mall where the climax of "Jackie Brown" takes place) 4 years apart . . .
sharedamn... that's what i call a mall!
"how about... a royal flush!" *loren avedon kicks a cauldron of boiling water into the bad guys*
I saw both movies in theaters here in Indianapolis. I loved the original, but the sequel wasn't so good. No matter, because "The Exterminator" is one of the most classic sleaze films of all time, and contains some very controversial graphic sadistic over the top violence. Great to see it rereleased on DVD. It's been on my want list for a long time.
shareI saw the first one at the Culver Theater in Culver City, CA. Definitely a 2nd and 3rd run grindhouse experience with all sorts of people yelling back at the screen and getting freaked out by the ultra-violence. Unfortunately I saw it with my W.W. II-era dad who was disgusted and kept saying, "this is the filthiest language I've heard since the army!"
Pretty fun stuff...
The Exterminator got a pretty widespread cinema release in the UK, but apart from one or two Cannon cinemas in London and maybe Birmingham/Manchester Exterminator 2 was straight to video. Not surprising really. It was total bollocks.
'Culture, sophistication, a little bit more than an 'ot dog' You said it Bob!
