Great news re the Blu Ray

I got tired of not hearing anything about this so I just went ahead and e-mailed Synapse!

They were VERY COOL and wrote back within a day. Here is what they said (1st in response to WHEN IT WAS GOING TO BE RELEASED and second reply in response to my question if Glickenhaus was doing the commentary):

Soon, very soon... ;)

We found the original stereo tracks, so we had to bump it back on the schedule a bit.

Synapse Films to me
show details 11:23 AM (3 hours ago)

There is a commentary track we recorded with the director, too. And a bunch of trailers.

I also think it was good news when i heard they found the original Dolby Stereo track. But, it wasn`t so good when i finally compared the audio track to the Mono track.

I think the Dolby Stereo track lacked bass and clarity compared to the Mono track. Just listen and compare them yourself.

I am sorry to hear that. Do you think the UK vesion has the same dolby track?

I haven't watched my blu ray yet. I just got a boot vhs-dvd copy of Exterminator 2 and am waiting for the time to watch both back to back!

No, the UK version will only have the Mono audio track. http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Exterminator-Blu-ray/28694/

I also found out the reason why the original Dolby Stereo track is lacking compared the downmixed Mono track. The Dolby Stereo track was actually lifted from a Japanese Laserdisc.

The original Dolby Stereo tracks were lost. So, they only had the audio track from the Laserdisc to work with. So, only the sound elements from the Mono track survives. The Mono track of course sounds better because they had sound elements for the Mono track to work with.
