going for a beer before school

bought the arrow release blu ray recently, never seen the film before.

the bit that made me laugh was when his mate was speaking to his wife saying im just going for a beer with tony or whatever his name is.

then the wife turns to the kids and says get ready for school haha.

i get they work the night shift but that just seems hilarious. I have friends who work together on night shifts, and they never go for a beer at 8am haha

I think it's also meant to represent that they might have a bit of a drinking problem. You don't come out of Vietnam without being at least a little bit messed up.

I have worked midnight shift and would go to a bar and drink in the morning sometimes with co-workers. It's actually pretty common. You are wired and usually wide awake. When you get off work at 5pm do you go right to bed when you get home.
