A little similar to Ace In The Hole (1951)

I just saw The Elephant Man for the first time. Very good film, quite moving and well acted. But I wonder if anyone else thinks it's a little similar to Ace In The Hole? I think it's similar in just one thing, it focuses on how people use other people's problems to make money. I know we've seen many films like that but those 2 films are the most moving. The character 'Bytes' is a bit like Kirk Douglas' character in Ace In The Hole. Ace In The Hole is one of the most depressing films I've ever seen, I think it's better than The Elephant Man... Although both are great and moving films.

But The Elephant Man is written very differently, both John Merrick and Frederick Treves are lead characters here... Where in Ace In The Hole Kirk Douglas was obviously the lead character. Anyway, I recommend Ace In The Hole to anyone who liked this film.
