Were Ross and Bettina Daley lousy parents?
It certainly seemed like Shawn learned a lot more from Foley in their brief time together than he ever learned from his parents in 10 years with them.

Were Ross and Bettina Daley lousy parents?
No, they just had lousy American accents.
Great movie other than that.
They seemed like typical yuppie 1970's American parents. I laugh everytime the father drives the van off the cliff. What the Jesus! REVERSE YOU MORON, REVERSE!
"I'm a vehemently anti-nuclear, paranoid mess, harbouring a strange obsession with radioactive sheep."
Well, he was clearly trying to reverse, but for whatever reason the camper wouldn't oblige.

yeah thats true. Still the whole scene is hillarious. He zips down the trail and stops the van only a foot from the cliff. The little boy runs right up only inches from the edge. The mom is trying to cook on the stove and then AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH CRUNCH CRASH!
"I'm a vehemently anti-nuclear, paranoid mess, harbouring a strange obsession with radioactive sheep."
"Ross, what are you doing?"
"Oh my God, Ross!!"

LOL
Last time I saw this moive I thought about Larry from the Groundhog Day movie:
[after the father has driven the van off the cliff]
Larry: they... might be okay.
[the truck crashes 100's of feet below]
Larry: Well, no. Probably not now.
"I'm a vehemently anti-nuclear, paranoid mess, harbouring a strange obsession with radioactive sheep."
That scene disturbed me as a kid, but when I see it now it almost makes me happy because the parents are so annoying.

"No, they just had lousy American accents."
Their voices were dubbed, that wasn't Jack Thompson doing an American accent.
