Netflix Instant Viewing Find, 7/2011

Yes, like a lot of people who know of this movie, I saw this in the early '80s on HBO or Cinemax, and the only thing that stuck in my head since then was the camper and the parents. Though not on DVD, it is finally up for Instant Viewing on Netflix as of July 2011.
There sure are a lot of movies featuring kids lost or abandoned in the Australian wilderness.

just had 2 people I know check the netflix version. it is NOT in it's 2:35:1 ratio and is a 4x3 pan scan transfer.

99% of you people send me PM's with questions and never bother to check that I replied to them.

Oh well, I guess it was just like it was when I saw it on HBO or Cinemax then. I was just glad to see it in some form after all that time.

true and it still might look better than our old vhs tapes

"In it IS?" You want "its" here, genius. For the record, the original aspect ratio of the Earthling is 1.33:1.

reply

Hi genius, according to the imdb and from other various postings the ratio is 2:35:1 NOT your pan and scanned 1:33 (I see some good research on your part genius).

you can check here for that info

Hi genius, according to the imdb

I knew you would play that card. IMDb is like Wikipedia. Anyone can add to the database. The Earthling was shot in 1.33:1.

Likewise I knew you would reply with a comment stating the Imdb is often wrong(which would be true for many cases). Had it stated 1:85:1 I would have been more understanding since it then could have been shot full frame and later matted. Listing it as 2:35:1 is obviously a big difference. Since you are the only person to ever mention the film being shot as 1:33 how/where can you verify that information?
