The very very end scene

I thought the scene where the jeep is driving away was great. The town was completely still. I've always wondered what was going through the town residents minds at that point.

I agree. I think it makes the statement of an absolutely terrified populace who, after god knows how many years of violent and brutal oppression of various stripes, have been reduced to simply hiding in order to survive.

My favorite scene was the few seconds where he is walking down the tube towards the light while being deported, heckled, and humiliated.

My second favorite scene is the unintentionally comical moment when he calls the most brutal, bloodthirsty mercenary he knows, then they show the guy, and it's (watch the movie).

i love the ending, it contrasts the start so well, the start of the movie they are fleeing from a failed coup, at the end its a success (sortof), only thing i didnt like was the way tom berenger got shot in the back (i think, my memory is bad).
