Walken's make-up
Christopher Walken was made up like a woman through most of the early part of this flick. The face, the hair...it was a little creepy.

shareThat wasn't makeup, he just has some feminine (or "boyish") features. It's part of what makes him such an interesting actor since his ability to project violent instability, rage and cold-bloodedness creates a stark contrast.
His early civ. character seems like completely anti-commando; even a little effeminate. But I s'pose if you're laying low & don't wanna be exposed as a mercenary, that's probably the way to go.
My favorite scenes: the customs scene ("Importation tax!"), the doctor's office scene, the last scene ("This country's bought & paid for!" "Well, you'll just hafta buy again!"; a great line!). Also the post-Watergate, govt.-in-chaos implication that private citizens were running forn. policy, especially in the 3d World: they could remake this movie, because it's even truer today

In the book he was dying of cancer. Thyat may have influenced his look in the movie.
shareYeah, I agree. The obvious brown shadow and hollow cheekbones was distracting. Sometimes a movie can be ruined by poor makeup choices, it can disrupt the suspension of disbelief. i kept looking at the makeup instead of getting into the film!
shareThat's how he really looked like in the 70s and early 80s, watch his other eaely films, he had an ethereal effeminate look. He looks almost elvish doesn't he?
