'One day we'll go to war over rice' Hows that for prophetic?!

When Walken gets hired and the boss says that "One day we'll go to war over rice." I was just watching this movie for the first time since it came out, and that line just about knocked me out of my seat.

And the "Great Rice War" was when?

He must be referring to some war over food, I have no clue either. Thanks to modern transport and agronomy, the problem is not in production but the corruption of the governments and leaders in the countries that can't produce or don't have the food.

Or maybe he's referring to the unfounded war on food that the well fed, well educated, arrogant annointed ones have against modern farming methods.

Well said and nailed it right on the head!

With mankind's advances the earth produces so much food. It's a shame pocket dictators use food as leverage.
