I was interested, looking at her credits recently, to note how many independent-type films she did. She became a very mainstream actress (like, to the point where I almost became sick of seeing her face!) but I forgot she worked with Robert Altman so much, etc.

She's an incredible performer, and has a chameleon-like ability to look either very pretty, just average, or rather plain.

She's so articulate when she discusses acting. The "Acting Carrie" featurettes (which are on YouTube) discuss how she selected certain images from paintings. One of them was Edvard Munch's THE SCREAM. She interspersed these poses in the performance to help convey the emotion she thought should be there...and being in the physical poses brought up corresponding emotion for her, as well.

jus watched her on the tribute saying she was wanting to tell loretta in person she wasn't going to do the movie but loretta made such an impression sissy had a change of heart
