Fire at the chateau

Does anybody else think that the scene with the fire at the chateau was probably one of the most climatic scenes ever put in a cartoon? That to me was some exciting stuff back there, very suspenseful too.

And even in this scene there's a touch of comedy in it. When Snoopy can't control the hose right away, it splashes all over Charlie Brown, heh heh, then Linus takes over the pump with Pierre.

That was a pretty exciting scene, but I can't really watch it without thinking "this is so out of place in Peanuts". This whole movie, in fact, felt a bit too adventurous for Peanuts. But I did like that alot-- it was a bit more interesting than the usual Charlie Brown fare. It, like "Race for Your Life Charlie Brown", sort of suffers from a disappointing ending. In terms of story, all the plot points got tied up and stuff, but the ending just kind of let me down.

I can't really think of a better way to do it though. I suspect that the writers wrote themselves into a corner.

That scene is one of many humorous parts to this movie. I like when Charlie Brown hops up and down screaming, "Fire at the chateau! Fire, fire, help, fire!" Then you see the Baron's shadow pacing back and forth, and I think he's yelling the French word for "fire". Also, the way Linus yells, "Help, help, Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown! He-e-l-l-lp, he-e-l-l-l-p!"

I think the Baron was yelling help because he was screaming something similar to le scour, but the French word for fire is feu.

He was yelling, "Au Secours!" which means, Help! The "e" is rarely pronounced in this word (secours), so the phrase sounds like "Oh Skoor"

I have to fully agree! It took me forever to find the right movie because I couldn't remember what it was called. But I have always had vivid memories of the fire at the chateau!

MAN I wish I could see this one again!!!
