It is rated a 5.1 because many claim to find everything about it completely insipid, boring, worthless and mediocre. Many also consider the acting extremely terrible. Even though they utterly missed the entire point of the film and didn't percieve it as the majestic masterpiece that it actually is, they decide to give it 1s and such to make themselves feel more professional for going along with most all the other major critics and undermining a film that is considered by it's fans both a milestone in cinema and a work of art.
Anyway, don't pay attention to the overall rating, really. There are a lot of people who use IMDb that do not vote on films and rather just use the message boards and or review them without a */10 star vote. There's also tons of people who don't use IMDb that enjoy this film greatly, I would know, and it gets enough love to be considered well recieved among the general public.
