Re: French dialogue
Anyone know where to find the complete French dialogue exchange between Gere and Hutton. Perhaps someone can type it out as the subtitles seem to omit the lines in the bar and the apartment welcome.

shareHe speaks English at the bar before approaching Hutton. At the appartment, he opens the door and says "Bonsoir". Is this what you are referring to?

You are correct in regards to the apartment greeting. Although it should be noted that there are several French exchanges at the bar. What were those. Thanks.
shareAt the bar, he declines the barman's offer of a drink, in English. You mean where he sits down at the table? He gives his name in French and so does she. He then proceeds to ask if he can join her (politely) and she replies 'yes, please sit' and gestures him to sit. When she calls the waiter to order a drink he notices she is actually English speaking and then they both laugh at the fact that they were conversing, needlessly I might add, in French.

Again thanks for the exchange in English. Do you have an idea how this would all be written out in French exactly as the dialogue in the film?
shareAre you looking for a translation, or the written French words? If it is the latter, you can find a website using google that translates and converts languages in written form. This can be useful if you are trying to impress a French person by text or email. Perhaps it's for this reason.

His French is quite horrible, but here is what he was going for :
RG : Excusez-moi, puis-je m'asseoir un instant ? J'ai surpris votre conversation. (Excuse me, can I sit down for a minute ? I overheard your conversation)
LH : Mais bien sûr. (But of course)
RG : Je m'appelle Julian Kay. (My name is Julian Kay)
LH : Excusez-moi, Michelle Jost. (I'm sorry, Michele Jost)
RG : Enchanté. (Delighted to meet you)
LH : Puis-je vous offrir quelque chose ? (Could I offer you something ?)
RG : Avec plaisir. (with pleasure)
LH : Mister Kay would like another drink, qu'est-ce que vous prennez ? (..., what will you have ?)
RG then proceeds to order in English
Prior to this LH also has a conversation in French with the waiter. Her French is much better and the waiter is most likely a native speaker.
Always ask yourself :"What would Neil Patrick Harris do ?"
Just for information : I've watched the french dubbed version of American Gigolo 2 days ago. They couldn't keep this language there, of course, so the whole scene is italian spoken, and not subtitled neither.
