What part scared the crap out of you most?

I was young when I watched this one late night on Scifi and watched the boy be pushed into the pool eaten by the alligator....that part traumatized me especially all the blood piling out of the water and the kid's ear splitting scream.

Yeah, I agree! It was very brutal because he was just a little kid. I wonder if his parents let him watch that scene later on when the film was released:)

True that was the first and last time a kid was ever killed in such a gruesome way in a horror film.
Although i think that the part where kelly and david see it down in the sewers for the first time was the scariest bit.

True, that is in fact a really disturbing scene, I can say that children getting killed in movies is something I always had trouble with, of course I keep reminding myself they're just movies but that doesn't make it less hard to watch.
However there are other child deaths in movies that are just as awful or worse like little Gage on "Pet sematary", come on! a baby killed by a huge truck? I always thought that was so unnecesarily harsh, and what about the "Dawn od the dead" remake where they shoot a zombie newborn? that was absolutely shocking. Also remember "Amityville 2" where the possesed boy shoots his entire family including his younger siblings, there are so many more but the other one I remember right now is "Mimic" where at the beginning hundreds of kids die because of a rare disease and in a later scene two young boys get slaughtered by one of the giant cockroaches.

I was really surprised that the boy got killed. But I think for example the scene in John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 where a little girl gets shot was much more gruesome than this. But that wasn't really a horror film I guess.

I gotta go with the scene where the little boy gets munched by the monster as well; it's truly shocking and unforgettable. I likewise really dug the equally startling moment when the alligator bites a luckless guy's legs off from the knees down.

"Warren Oates died for our sins"

reply

These two scenes were not in the original story.

yeah the bit where they turn on the lights 4 the pool n you see its face is prety scary...put me off goin swimmin pools at night 4 a while

Was the kid pushed in by another kid? And was one of them wearing an alligator costume? I remember seeing an alligator movie with a scene like that when I was a small child, but I can't remember the name of the movie, and I've been wanting to watch it again.

What's up with that Harriet Tubman, yo?

I don't know if I'm correct kbtp ,but I think the movie your talking about
is an austalian horror flick called Dark Age. Iv'e seen it too and the
scene with the little kid getting chomped and swallowed in broad daylight
was pretty damn shocking. The first I saw that scene I kind of had to turn my
head away because I knew what was going to happen and anotherr thing
shocking about that scene is you actually seee the kid swallowed whiole.

Thanks for replying! I'm not sure if Dark Age is the movie, though. I'm pretty sure this scene was at night. I remember there being lights in the pool.. or around it.

It's been a while since I saw it, but yeah the kid was pushed. I think they were playing pirates and the little one had to walk the plank. Don't remember an alligator costume.

They turned on the pool lights and the little kid saw it, but it was too late.

The big climatic scene in the end when the alligator crashes the wedding and
kills the people that had caused him to grow to enourmous size!! That was
awesome.
