Why did Dean Jagger refuse to open the limo door when Jack Carter was trying to get in at the wedding when the alligator came crashing in?

Well--in the original version--the head of the chemical co. doesn't make it anywhere near his limo---he's gobbled up right at the table. He's actually the only person killed in my original story---at least--on camera.

Actually, if I remember right, the old guy looked a bit angry with the guy about to get eaten and even locked the door of the limo to keep him out.
