I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just curious.

At the time it was made, Alligator could have been considered pretty gory by the 1980s. However, since it has aged fairly badly in 2010, it's not terribly gory at all. You see some floating limbs in the water and a guy gets his leg bitten off and you see some blood on the water surface. Pretty tame considering how much gore is used in films these days.
