A baby?
Does the alligator really eat a baby in this movie? (I've only seen the cut version...) If so, then it's gotta be among the sickest things ever onscreen, sorry.

Yeah, that's the scene I've seen, too. But there's a mention that there was a scene cut where it crashes through a fence to eat a baby... Yikes!

I found a sort of confirmation in this review - http://www.mrsatanism.com/movies/darkage.htm. From that I gathered that the 'baby' is likely to be in fact merely a very young child, 2 years old perhaps. No movie, ever, will have a helpless 6 month old baby getting gobbled up (onscreen at the very least - that Sam Neill/Meryl Streep flick is a possible exception), in case that's what you were thinking.
--Valium Schmalium.--
I think I've only seen that scene once. This mom goes inside to answer the phone or something, leaving her kid out in the yard. There's a loud crash outside. She runs out. A section of the fence is smashed and flattened. The laundry basket she left out is overturned, and her kid is missing. She searches all over. Then you see a low POV shot coming up behind her with the music playing like the alligator's going to attack. Then her kid grabs her from behind.
shareI just watched this movie and don't remember
this scene. Where in the movie is it?? And I
watched the real version.
I believe it was before the scene in the canal. I only remember seeing it once when I was a kid. Haven't seen it since.
shareIt's been YEARS since I've seen this classic. Don't remember a baby scene. I clearly remember the boy falling in the pool (warped me for years) and the wedding/limo scene.
If you think a killer animal flick is messed up because of a baby getting killed, stear clear of "Tentacles". The giant octopus pulls a baby, carriage and all, down into the water. It freaked me out bad as a kid. You should also avoid Tentacles because it really really really sucks.
Tentacles! I loved that movie!
shareTentacles was a pretty bad movie, but the baby in the stroller scene and the scene where the octopus is looking inside the diving bell are it's only 2 scary moments.
The kid getting eaten in Alligator was scary and it traumatized me as a kid too. The other creepy part was the scene where it ate the reporter while his camera took pictures of the attack.
In Primeval the creepiest part was the scene with Orlando Jones when the crocodile slowly rises up out of the weeds in the swamp in pure daylight and you finally see just how massive it is.
The scene with the alligator tearing up the backyard with the baby outside
was a scene that had been put in for the TV version.
Hey guys, like I said in the other 2 threads, its in the Catalina VHS, but the baby does not get eaten. It makes it seem that way, but the baby is ok. THe gator does *beep* up the backyard fence, though. BUt the description posted a while ago is pretty much how it goes in that scene.
shareI thought of that scene when I began reading this thread.
