It was a different time and place in life, and some of those jokes said what was in the back of many people's minds back then (the film is equal opportunity though, taking shots at anything: basketball legends, alcoholics, nuns, domestic violence, race, sex, and airport safety). Nowadays, no way does "Airplane!" get made as is.

shareSnowflakes like the OP will never understand the appeal of making fun of everyone, simply in the name humor. Movies like this didn't let ANYONE off the hook, and it's endurance shows how people are drawn to that. I couldn't tell you how many years it's been since a comedy was released that will be popular 2 decades from now.
