How could Lloyd Bridges and Robert Stack keep a straight face?

I love this movie and just saw it again for the millionth time. I noticed how Robert himself was straight as an arrow and was wondering how he could keep a straight face working with Lloyd. I beg those 2 were cracking up the entire time thru production.

It was just great dicipline on the part of both actors and the entire cast to hold character during some of those gut busting hilarious scenes.

It's not just them, It's everybody. Even the elderly lady sitting next to ted when he has his "Drinking Problem".

I read somewhere that Johnny's (Stephen Stucker) antics caused a lot of reshoots because actors would bust up on the set.
