Re-edited DVD?

I am interested in replacing my VHS copy with DVD but hear that one of the DVD versions has been re-edited (The film opens with the firing squad execution, amongst others). Can anyone advise which DVDs are the original version, as this is what I am looking for.

The Australian "Silver Anniversary Edition" is the original version and presented in a quite reasonable 16:9 transfer. It has obviously been taken from a theatrical print and contains noticeable dirt on the print but it's not too bad. The print is a bit faded but the compresssion is excellent and is free of any noticable compression artefacts, even when projected onto a large screen. The framing unfortunately is little bit out with the image sitting a little low in the frame. I noticed that the framing seemed a bit off and I compared it to my older letterboxed VHS copy and indeed the framing is much better on my old VHS copy. The are only minimal extras (a few trailers).

I see there is a new blu-ray version, maybe that is what you heard about. If you can't find the original contact me at rboett3930 at aol and I can see about burning you a copy. Hate it when they muck around with originals.
