Edward Woodword singing in the film?

I am a first-time viewer of this film, coming across it purely by chance on my cable network.

This is one of the best films war/historical films--Hats off to the Australian film industry!

What a great final dialogue line in a film: "Shoot straight you bastards--don't make a bloody mess of it!"

I have two questions about the film:

1) Is it actually Edward Woodword doing the singing in the film? If so, he not only is a fine actor but a great singer also!

2) Was the movie filmed in Australia?

Thanks in advance to any Breaker Morant afficianodos out there for answering my questions!

reply

hi,
yes, he really did his own singing (woodward starred in musicals and recorded albums, too)! the movie was filmed in southern australia, around adelaide and burra.
as far as i know, there is a boer war memorial in adelaide.

Yes, that is Edward Woodward singing "Soldiers of the Queen" over the end credits and "At Last," a song composed by Harry Morant himself.

Beautiful singer.
