BETTER than competitors.

This film was much better than A few Good Men and WAY better than Paths of Glory. I love Kubrick and all, but I think he just got out-storied by this film.

I think it was a very interesting year for films back in 1979 when 'Breaker' was made. For one thing its totally straight forward unlike the madness of 'apocalypse now' which was set about the exact same thing different army, different war same warfare and same murder charge. It is often said that those who tell a story in a complicated way as in 'apocalypse now' says more about the story than those who just plain spell it out as in 'breaker'. Coming from Ireland as i do it is interesting to see how a 'bloody sunday' from the soldiers point of view would look. of course there is already a really good bloody sunday by 'bourne supremacy' director paul greengrass and another trial for murder in war flick in the straight forward 'rules of engagement' but 'a few good men' seems to have taken care of the yet to be made guantanamo film prequel! Paths of Glory is a very good example of a similar unshirking storytelling powerhouse of a movie and is probably closest to breaker in style and content
