CZECH LANGUAGE SCENES

I actually don't think the scenes were subtitled--I don't recall them being when I caught this on PBS eons ago, and I don't think I've ever seen a copy of it with them. I believe the audience is just supposed to infer what's being said in a general way, via the context--though that's easier to do if one has read the novel first. Repeat viewings do make it easier to surmise what's going on.

They're on the abridged US six episode version:

JP: How are You?

TD: OK. But the doctor told me I mustn't drive for more than three hours at a time

JP: Open it [trying the back door]

TD: No. You must sit next to me. It's safer ...

JP: Like hell

TD: Also more democratic

JP: Open it

TD: Have you got a pistol?

JP: Open it

TD: Have you got a message for the General?

I'll tell you a story. There's this old woman who can't keep her hands off young blokes. Always grabbing at their balls in the queue. Well it was just beginning to rain ...

JP: Don't move and don't speak.
Get out, Baraku. Slowly.
Put it On.
Walk to the hut.
I'll go and see the General when you come back and when it's safe.

TD: Why? I know it's safe.

JP: Go. If I put the headlights on I can get you easily.
Go. Go. Go.
