Last Episode?

What happened in the last episode? I've caught many episodes in re-runs and just wondered how they ended the series.

Aurgh, you might have seen it.

This series didn't really have a big final episode. The last one showed a new side of "Kip" we never saw before . . . the overly protective brother.

In the show, we are introduced to Kip's sister (just visiting) who ends up on a quiet date with Henry. Kip learns of this, after the fact, and becomes enraged with Henry. "Did you touch my sister?" said repeatedly and made funny in a way only Tom Hanks could pull off. Henry and Kip get into a scuffle and end up falling off the balcony of their apartment and are badly injured. Amongst the crashing sound of trash cans below, during the fall, you hear a faint call from Henry to Kip, "Kip, are you OK?" Kip replies, "Henry, did you touch my sister?"

The rest of the show is in the hospital where Kip and Henry are wearing body casts and still angry with each other. Sonny is of course the nurse. Kip, Henry and the sister each tell the story of what actually happened on the date. Which is re-enacted in different flashbacks. Kip's version of what he thinks happened has Henry putting the heavy moves on sister and playing out his "sickest fantacies" (Henry has her on the couch and begins a juggling act with a perverted look on his face). I don't remember what happens in Henry's version, but it played out that absolutely nothing happened.

At last, the sister tells her side of story and confesses that she actually had a crush on Henry growing up, her visit to New York was actually a plan she had to lose her virginity to him and basically threw herself at him on the date. Henry, being the "gentleman," declines the offer. Instead he gives her a pep-talk about finding the right guy and cheers her up with a magic trick. End of date.

Kip now feels like a "dope," (his words) and appologizes to everyone. Sister then asks Sonny about her first sexual encounter with a man. Sonny just smiles and walks sister out of the room saying that Kip is in much too bad a shape to hear that story.

Kip then pulls the jealousy card and yells after them, "what's that suppose to mean, nurse."

We exit with Kip and Henry playing with the bed remote . . . leaning back and sitting up. The End.

-----Keep in mind, this is from memory watching reruns fifteen years ago. Pardon if I missed something. I've seen every episode twice in syndication, and the re-runs always had this episode as the last one.

I just thought I'd add that "Not With My Sister You Pig" was in fact the last episode produced for the series, and most networks do show the series by production number, rather than original airdate; but "Not The Last Picture Show", the episode where the gang imagine themselves growing old, was actually the last new episode to air on ABC. If you ask me, I think as far as Bosom Buddies goes, the episodes flow better if you go by production number, and not the original airdates.

I have the episode guide, as well as the original air dates as listed on the DVD packaging.

The final episode was "Cablevision", which aired on May 27, 1982. "In order to land an important client, Kip and Henry broadcast their own variety show on cable televsion, with help from Amy, Ruth and all their friends".

"The best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother."

Danafranklin, you are right. According to the DVD episode order, and certain episode guides, "Cablevision" did in fact air last. If you look at episodeguide.com, and tv.com, they show "Not The Last Picture Show" as the last new episode to air, with "Call Me Irresponsible"(simply an alternate title for a previously screened episode, "One For You, One For Me") as the last episode. I believe what we have here is simply a case of a planned schedule, verses the schedule that actually came to be. I believe that the DVD order is going by the order that the episodes really aired, and tv.com and episodeguide.com are going by the intended schedule, which would have put "Not The Last Picture Show" last, but "Cablevision" was preempted by the network, and there for, was the last to air.
