Title?
I just finished this wonderful and underrated film. I am wondering though, does anyone know what the title actually means?

shareIn the beginning of the novel the film was based on, there is a quote -
Minutes trudge,
Hours run,
Years fly
Decades stun,
Spring seduces,
Summer thrills,
Autumn sates,
Winter kills
Basically a summary of life. However, I think there may be a double meaning; "Winter Kills" can also refer to the killings of Presidents Kegan and Kennedy, which took place in February and October, respectively.
The quote comes from "The Keeners' Manual", and author Richard Condon began many of his novels with quotes from this source. Funny thing is, no such book ever existed, except in Condon's imagination.

Thanks for that information. I never knew about the quote. I've been a big fan of the film ever since it came out and appreciate any insight into it.
FYI, Kennedy was assassinated in November; the 22nd to be exact. I was 13 days old at the time but fortunately do not remember it. (LOL)
I think it's a very intriguing though somewhat abstract title. I love the fact that outside of the poem, "Kills" can be read as a verb or a noun – there certainly were plenty of them here.
shareThe title always makes me think of the haunting Yazoo track Winter Kills, from the album Upstairs at Erics.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fzc30bJJJmI
