Just watched this
....what can I say? A truly amazing film. I was gripped from start to finish. The scene following the credits of the boat drifting in the harbour is truly atmospheric and has an underlying sinister atmosphere to it. The effects, the acting, the camera work, soundtrack (very haunting), directing and the zombie make up was all top notch stuff. This is my first foray in to the films of Fulci. Having seen an article in Fangoria magazine about Beyond I will invest in that DVD next and I'm contemplating House by the Cemetery - do you all recommend those films?
Also here in Britain they have released a Zombie Flesh Eaters limited edition box set featuring 1 - 3 (are the other 2 any good?) and also Zombie Holocaust. That last film is putting me off the box set because I do not want to watch a film featuring animal cruelty. I did buy the DVD for my ex girlfriend and she point blank refused to watch it.
Any other films you recommend with zombies that appear so rotten you can almost smell the stale dust on their clothes? Like other users have said most modern zombie movies feature zombies closer to vampires - gone are the days of zombies fresh out of the ground after a several month dirt nap. Bring back those days!
