Possibility of a blu-ray closer?

All right, here are a couple of things that make the possibility of a blu-ray more realistic:

1. Both Blue Underground and Media Blasters have tossed their hats into the blu-ray ring (although BU already has a bunch of blu-rays out)

2. Blue Underground is releasing the obscure Circle of Iron on blu-ray... which BU first released on DVD in early 2004... just a few months before their release of Zombie.

However, who would be better at putting this on blu-ray? While BU has more experience already, and their DVD had the best video quality (if only because it was encoded in 24p progressive scan over Media Blasters' 30i interlaced transfer), Media Blasters has BU beat in the extras department. Guess we can only sit back and wait for now...

I'd love to see this film on Blu-Ray, I don't care who does it. I wonder who has possession and control of the original negative?

I'm pretty sure bluray would make the picture worse.

It won't work in high def...

If whoever does the Blu-Ray is able to do so from the original 35mm negatives, it'll look great. The DVD looks better than the VHS did, so it only stands to reason that the Blu-Ray would be even better, since 35mm film has a ton more resolution than Blu-Ray.

Yeah, analouge will always be better than digital. But, I don't imagine that this would've been stored all too well ect.

I dunno, I think it's more things like TV shows that look worse, as you can see the make up and such.

Well, some light restoration would help. I own the Anchor Bay ZOMBIE release and it's a horrible transfer. As long as the transfer has some work done on it, I'm sure it would like nice. Since some older films from the 90's, like Black Mask and Pulp Fiction (so far, only out in Europe. I have the French Blu-Ray) are out on Blu-Ray, they look freakin' sweet.

The Blue Underground edition is a big improvement.

Went to see Zombie on Friday night in Sheffield and Ian McCulloch introduced and took questions after, he said the blu ray release will be coming very soon

Well, Blue Underground more or less said that while they want to release a blu-ray, they have to deal with some "red tape". My guess is Media Blasters/Shriek Show may still have their hat in the ring in regards to releasing this film, and BU is trying to get back to releasing it.

Oh well, at least they've got City of the Living Dead coming.
