TOURIST TRAP on the big screen! (Friday, April 17th, 2009)

If you live anywhere near Durham, North Carolina and would like to see TOURIST TRAP on the big screen you will have your chance very soon. For one night only, as part of their monthly Retrofantasma Film Series the Carolina Theatre of Durham is running TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME as a double feature with the 70’s slasher classic TOURIST TRAP.

The show is on Friday night, April 17th, with TWIN PEAKS starting at 7:00pm and TOURIST TRAP playing at 9:30pm. If you've never attended one of the Retro screenings at the Carolina Theatre they are a lot of fun, and they feature vintage trailers and door prizes before each show. All screenings are done with original 35mm film prints, and the best part is that tickets are just $7.00 to see two films (which is a terrific deal).

Oh, and if you’re a huge fan of cult horror cinema then be sure to check out their double feature of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS and SILENT SCREAM on March 20th as well.

Any opportunity to see a vintage cult classic film on a big screen is absolutely not to be missed! Just wanted to share.....

Why do these cool events always happen outside NY....:-(

reply

Because NY already had it's time during the 42nd Street heyday. You can't have your cake and eat it too!

Awesome. I'll post this on my site.

I hate that the theaters in my area don't have screening like that anymore. They're too busing show the latest Hollywood crap to set aside one night every now and then to show a classic mainstream or cult film. I guess they feel there's no longer an audience for such films.

OldeSkool says: "I guess they feel there's no longer an audience for such films."
The sad fact is, there probably isn't a substantial audience for classic and cult movies; those who love them, like us, have extensive dvd libraries and we trawl through cable listings with DVR remote in hand. Meanwhile here in Los Angeles, the home of filmmaking and Film Schools, the theaters by no means muster full houses for cult and classic screenings - even when the stars/directors/writers of those very movies are present doing Q&A sessions.

That is very sad.

So raise your glass..
