Wierdest/Scariest film ever made?

I've seen some crazy movies in my time but nothing like this. In my opinion I think it is the scariest mainly because of the bizzare killer with telekinetic powers and the eerie music in some death scenes.

SPOILER AHEAD!

Especially the freeze frame at the end with Molly driving away with her mannequin friends. That was pretty disturbing and the (PG) rating given is ridiculous. Does the MPAA really think that children would sleep well after viewing Tourist Trap?

reply

they probably didn't think it a graphic enough for an R rating

Weirdest? Yes.
Scariest? No ("Alien was the scariest for me....)

That said; the scene that still freaks me out to his day is when Mr. Slausen walks up and simply takes off the arm and then the head of one of his victims (apparently the guy DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HE WAS A MANNEQUIN!!!! )

The movie has a plot hole?!?

This is on my list of favorite horror movies. It's bizarre, creepy, & funny all rolled into one. Several scenes from the movie are still burned into my mind - the mannequin head on the ground with the mouth that opens & closes, the girl getting "plastered" (if you've seen the film, you know what I mean lol), Molly laying on the floor with the mannequins hovering over her (the music/voices is downright creepy), and last but not least - Chuck Connors on the floor wearing a blonde wig playing with the dolls (lol - it's still so vivid in my mind). And some of the one-liners are so creepy, yet funny.

I saw this movie for the first time when I was about 6. It scared the bejeezus out of me lol. I've watched it several times since then, & it still scared me, not as much, but I still appreciate the overall creepiness of the film. I think it's been re-rated R (I could be wrong though), but I agree with you on the PG rating. I remember so many of the horror movies that were only rated PG (Poltergeist is another one - it's still hard to believe that it got away with a PG rating with the dude pulling chunks of skin off his face in the bathroom scene lol.). Back to Tourist Trap - I had nightmares for years after watching this. It's still such a fun movie to watch.

They should have cut all the talking once the characters knew what was up. It's never a good idea to know too much in a horror movie because the less we know the scarier it is. In my case Mr Slausen's talking ruined everything! That 'Leatherface' dude look-alike just talks too much and it's all nonsense...and not in a good way!

Also, they shouldn't have explained his back story, the whole deal with his wife and his brother. I can't see it fit in a horror movie like this. They should have just left us guessing about his story, because let's face it, it's a horror movie, no critic is gonna complain about there not being character development!

Anyway, I can imagine this was super creepy to a kid, but I saw it as an adult and I just wanted to share my opinion. There are some really creepy and original moments in the film, like the last scene, but overall it's not very good.

Ahh, so I guess not explaining everything in a horror film is a good idea no? Maybe you should have realized that was what I was talking about in my Halloween III post instead of jumping down my throat and acting all high and mighty like you apparently know more than I do about films son.

OMG get a life! Appearently I misunderstood you in a previous post or something, I don't no I didn't really bother to re-read the Halloween 3 post again since I have better things to do. How can someone obsess so much about a stupid post? You are right, I am wrong. Alright? Now you can sleep peacefully again! Jeez!

reply

"Appearantly" you still haven't figured out spell check, and if the post was so stupid why did you send it in the first place?

"Have you paid your dues Jack? Yes sir, the check is in the mail."

reply

Oh, I almost forgot, what don't you "no"? Admitting you were wrong doesn't change the fact that you jumped down my throat with no basis for your argument. Why don't you go back to enjoying The Box and most likely Saw VII or Paranormal Activity 2?

I say it's one of THE WEIRDEST and SCARIEST films ever made. Not to mention, EXTEMELY UNDERRATED.

reply

Totally agree with this. Love this movie.
