Woody and Tina

It was barely 5 minutes into the movie when the first victim, Woody, was killed. I don't know why but I felt really sorry for him. He seemed like the typical irresponsible guy but all he wanted was help for the car, and his girlfriend and himself. We barely knew him yet the situation he was pleading to be released and for his life. He seemed very frightened when those things were thrown at him. Poor guy. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Tina, another character we barely knew, had the infamous 'plaster death' scene. She wasn't part of the group but judging on her demeanor while she was in the dark and when Jerry and Becky were held prisoners in the room with her, she probably went through hell trying get away from that psycho. The poor girl suffocated from that stuff he put on her when she was pleading for her life.

Anyone else felt that way with these characters?

For me i feel as though Woody's character was established to a satisfactorty degree in the film as he was part of the main group of characters. Even though he got killed very early and his brief scenes were disturbing, I feel this provided the necessary set piece for the introduction to the film and introducing the main characters.

As for Tina even though she was not with the main group of friends i was disappointed with her lack of screen time more and only appearing in just two scenes. Yes her character did explain how she came about being in her location but i would have liked to see a little more of her character. On a positive note Tina's character did add an element of mystery to the film as we did not expect her to be introduced in the way that she was so it came as one of several surprises.

Thank you. I agree. I like your view. You're right on how the way Woody's character was introduced was to introduce us to the rest of group and set the tone for the movie. Still, it was very disturbing and horrible how he was killed. Same goes for Tina. I found myself liking her character, even though she barely had some screen time. Yes, you're right on the money.

Woody's scene really set the tone for the movie and really got my attention.

(I felt bad because Woody was the best looking guy in the cast and I would have liked to see more of him.)
