um, no.
House of Wax was a remake of House of Wax, which is also a remake of House of Wax.
Tourist Trap is nothing like any of those films and has zero to do with them.
There are a number of similarities. Like:
1. The premise of two brothers that own a mysterious wax museum
2. Young people find themselves at the mercy of psychotic murderers
3. There is a twisted and disturbing backstory behind the museums and their owners
4. The female leads are targeted the most by the killers
5. They both have that Texas Chainsaw Massacre feel to them
6. The first victims in both films are guys who coincedently name starts with the letter, 'W'(Woody in this movie and Wade in HoW)
7. Both have some creepy and unnerving deaths
Those are the ones I can think of for now. But, they are a bit similar.
They are virtually the same story, down to the details. Only major differences are that 1) there really ARE 2 brothers, instead of 1 man posing as 2, 2) there is no supernatural telekinetic ability in play, and 3) they are creating wax figures instead of mannequins from living human beings.
The war is not meant to be won... it is meant to be continuous.
I read an article that confirms this was truly a remake of Tourist Trap but they used the title House of Wax because not many people are familiar with TT and therefore it wouldn't have done as well. It's completely obvious to anyone who watches it and is familiar with TT that it is not really a remake of HoW.
"Why couldn't the monkey arrange this from INSIDE the garbage can?"
And no, I cannot provide a link or anything because I read it many many years ago. I am sure there are ways to find this info on the Internet. :)
"Why couldn't the monkey arrange this from INSIDE the garbage can?"
Right because House of Wax is actually a remake of, well, House of Wax.
