I recorded on a VHS years back, and I too couldn't get the last 30 minutes or so. The last one I saw was Orson Welles back in Los Angeles to meet Jack The Ripper, and sadly, I ran out of the tape and couldn't watch to this day. There IS NO VIDEO rentals where I live since I live in the third world. I will be lucky to even be able to afford food! So anyone can tell me the last 30 minutes would be great.

basically its a "normal" Hollywood ending. Wells defeats Jack and gets the girl. Then he takes her back to Victorian England with him.

Just to clear up one thing, it was Herbert George Wells, the English author, not Orson Wells, the American Director/Actor.

*SPOILERS*

And in an attempt to "match" history, the ripper was sent into some form of eternity (not killed), which I suppose was supposed to explain why the real ripper was never, ever identified.

And Wells did actually marry the Steenburgen character in real life, but the divorced a few years later.
