Every time that I see David Warner I always think of him as Jack the Ripper.

Very solid movie, should be seen by more people.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

Really? Am I the only person who thought that this movie was terrible?

Maybe the only person on these message boards.

I agree. If you haven't seen this, go in knowing it's got some plot holes and it was made in 1979 and looks it. But as a fun romance--and especially as McDowell's best romantic role (by far)--it's well worth the watch.

reply

Well, it's not like Malcolm has had a lot of romantic roles. I can only think of one other, Raging Moon. But yes, this one is very special since he and Steenburgen actually really fell in love making the film, got married and had two kids.

That's interesting. I thought they met on Cross Creek, but I see that's several years later...

reply

Yeah, he just did a small part in that one as a favor. And you have to see their episode of Shelly Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre. They did Little Red Riding Hood. It's very funny. Their kids are gorgeous. Lilly's trying to be an actress and Charlie's trying to be a director. She looks like Mary with Malcolm's coloring and he looks exactly like Malcolm. The thing I think is really nice is that even thought they divorced and remarried long ago, they've stayed close friends. Mary says Malcolm's the best dad ever.

Look at 'em...
