shareHmmm, I would ask if Wells used that date in his novel and/or it appeared in the George Pal film? If so the two later films no doubt paid homage by again using that date. It isn't Wells' birth or death date.
shareHi
Take your pick http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_5th, with the nature of the film, this seems the best fit to me:
1872 - Women's suffrage: In defiance of the law, suffragist Susan B. Anthony votes for the first time, and is later fined $100.
But if anybody knows better, please let us know.

Did you ever notice that people who believe in creationism look really un-evolved?
Well that's plausible for 'Time After Time'.
What about 'Back to the Future' and November 5th?

The date is also of critical importance in the film V for Vendetta, where the refrain "Remember, remember the 5th of November" is chanted throughout. The chant is based on a 17th century English nursery rhyme:

I can't be certain if there's a connection here, but it would at least make sense for Time After Time given that H.G. Wells would remember this date as a native of England.
The Fifth Of November is Guy Fawkes Day, celebrating the failure of the plot to blow up Parliament. As another poster mentioned, V For Vendetta centers on the 5th of November. John Lennon also appropriated the nursery rhyme for his "Remember".
I don't know, but it's my birthday, so Time After Time, BTTF, and V for Vendetta always freak me out, just a little.
