How fortunate for Saucy Jack when he demonstrated to HG that he belonged in the ultra-violent 20th century that he clicked through the evening news, Bugs Bunny, Jimi at Monterey, and a war film in succession. A cooking show would've seriously undermined his point.
actually i"m amazed he found 2 things as classy as Bugs Bunny and Jimi Hendricks in that great pre-cable era...my memory of late 70's programming was cop shows, cop shows, cop shows
It is not our abilities that make us who we are...it is our choices
Actually, the bigger "coincidence" occurs on Beavis and Butt-head. Exactly what version of MTV were they watching in the mid-1990s that constantly showed videos?
"My brain rebelled, and insisted on applying logic where it was not welcome."
LOL, good point ccr1633. But just try it today, and instead of violence, pretend you were going to demonstrate how pervasive reality shows are. Odds favor your point would be uninterrupted from channel to channel. You literally could go through most of the dial since all the cable networks have morphed into each other. I don't believe there is any network remaining that is still airing the programs for the niche it was originally established for. Not even the Weather Channel.
Would have depended on the cooking show, actually. I mean, if Kirt Ramsey was on, that would have been pretty violent. Even Emeril throwing things around makes me nervous sometimes.
