...HG eating for lunch in the revolving restaurant? It almost looks like ice cream but she was still eating a sandwich and a proper English gentleman would never have desert before a lady.
Any ideas?

In the circumstances, the proper English gentleman would have been very confused, and would presumably have decided to follow the saying, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do"...

It was a plain banana split. No whipped cream or other toppings. I don't think they're having a multi-course lunch with dessert if she's just eating a sandwich. He's probably just eating it as his lunch because he never had it before. Ice cream has been around for ages, but banana splits didn't exist in 1893.
