OH MA GERRD, They are making a TV series of this.

This is the most random thing I have ever heard for a TV series remake. LOL!

I'm so not happy about this....I love this movie and the actors in it and would hate to see it tarnished by some crappy remake made by the guy who brought us Dawson's Creek..

It doesn't really matter. When word came that CBS was making a new MacGyver, I figured chances were that it was going to be bad, so I decided not to watch. According to critics and people who have watched it, it did turn pretty bad. But I still enjoy my DVDs of the original series, so whether they remade it or not, I'm not affected at all. Life's too short to hate what you can't change.

It can't ever be as good as the original (of course) but the trailer does look promising. Not sure how they're going to make it a series. Can't see Wells chasing Jack the Ripper forever. Unless they can come up with something for him to do beyond that then I can only see this series having a limited run.

I suspect he'll stop Jack in the first two or three episodes, then move on to become... H.G. Wells, Timecop! We've seen him as a fish out of water in 1979 San Francisco. And we've seen many shows with contemporary people out of their element in the past, or future people in the present. With a series, we'd be able to see a man from the past trying to blend in even before his time, in our present or in the future.

Alternatively, if he doesn't catch Jack quickly, Jack will become a recurring nemesis, but not in every episode. Sort of like how in The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., the overarching theme was Brisco's pursuit of John Bly, the murderer of his father, but Bly wasn't the main villain in most of the episodes, only sporadically. The thing is that for Jack to be able to escape through time, he would need to steal some method of time travel other than Herbert's machine.
