I'm confused about the beginning
Is the opening sequence a training exercise? It's confusing because the bald dude appears to be space police hunting down this space ship, but later the same bald dude is working with them as their ally.
shareNo, not a training exercise. If you watch the scene where the emperor (Christopher Plummer) hologram is introduced, he pretty much lays it out.
The evil Count Zarth Arn (Joe Spinell) has a hidden planet where they are developing a secret weapon. The emperor's side has spies that have alerted him to this, and so they send a ship to investigate, and everyone is killed, except for one survivor. Stella Star (Caroline Munro) Akton (Marjoe Gortner) pick up the lone survivor. Then they are arrested for being smugglers, imprisoned, break out and then agents of the emperor (Thor and the robot Elle) recruit Akton and Stella to go on a mission and try to destroy the hidden planet with the weapon. When they find the planet, there is another survivor (Hasselhoff) who turns out to be the emperor's son.
