A R1 version of Star Crash is available at www.revok.com

Yes but is it finally in stereo? The French one's English isn't, tho French DTS is, and Retroflicks aren't. But the French is anapmorphic (PAL)

reply

I've got the french version too.Although there is an English sound on it (fortunately) it has on screen text at the opening in French only. (Lucky for me I speak a littlme French.) But the image quality is just awfull.

How's the image on the Region 1 version?

reply

R1 looks like it was taken straight from a bad VHS down to the fact that it's 1:33to1

I don't agree the French pic is awful, but it's not from the negative.
I just read in the review on Amazon.co.uk the Substance R1 DVD is the French print! With the same French prologe and credits, and jumps and scratches. But it gets near DVD quality, for an old film.

reply

this is no way near DVD quality except for the fact that it's on a DVD. Rosemary's Baby is much better quality than this and it's about a decade older.

Sorry, I was speaking about the French DVD. Didn't make that clear. Sometimes it does get bad, like VHS, but other times is pretty good, and colours are vibrant.

BCI Eclipse is giving this film an official Region 1 DVD release on October 14th; it's going to be doublebilled with "Galaxina."

"We're all part Shatner/And part James Dean/Part Warren Oates/And Steven McQueen"

I can't find any pre-order info on it any where. Found MAUSOLEUM/BLOOD SONG, STANLEY, and SWEET SIXTEEN: DIRECTOR’S CUT for 10/14 release but no STAR CRASH/GALAXINA. Maybe it's delayed.
