The uniforms look like pajamas and the colors are too bland, no wonder they got replace for the Wrath Of Khan on wards.

Robert Fletcher, along with Roddenberry himself, designed the "TMP" uniforms.
The ensemble cast then refused to wear these uniforms for a second feature film due to their clunky and impractical nature, so Fletcher came up with the "Monster Maroon" uniform variant which became a mainstay throughout the remaining original-cast movies.
The maroon jackets were also used in an alternate timeline during the run of "TNG" when the crew of "Yesterday's Enterprise" (NCC-1701-C) were shown to be wearing the same jacket/trousers combination as in "TWOK," sans the underlying turtlenecks. share
