A MUST SEE FOR EXPATS FROM THAT ERA

I came to Singapore in 1982 at the age of three. Much of the look and feel of Singapore has changed so drastically that watching this brings back memories. NOt, of course, of the content in this film, but the locations and the atmosphere you can almost smell watching this.

I read the book years ago and only recently stumbled upon the film.

A Gem of a movie even if you've never been to singapore - and it is nothing like what is depicted in the movie today - at least on the surface. Whoring and drugs are still readily available, just not so openly - regardless of what the government or most people there will tell you. I grew up there and saw both at first hand.
